Basic Concept
An interactive device about experiencing poem/text like leaves falling in autumn and playing with them on screen.
Process - Week 7
Brainstorm
- Concept Presentation
- Human pass by the device and brings a gust that blow texts.
- Body movement can raise texts like raise leaves on the ground, resonating playing with leaves in the childhood.
- Use vocal detection instead of body movement detection.
- Device Build
- Use microphone to detect sound to change text's motion.
- Use IR distance sensor to detect human approach and/or combine Two IR distance sensors to detect arms' movement.
- Use asynchronous serial communication skills and call-and-response to control data flow to avoid sensor's noise.
- Install on a larger screen.
- User experience design
- Human's walking speed test
- How to get attention before human approach to the screen
- What user behaviors are allowed
- Poem selection: Ode to the West Wind by Percy Bysshe Shelley, that talks about the west wind as a force of death and decay, and the incoming rejuvenation and rebirth.
Test Sharp IR sensor
#include <SharpIR.h>
SharpIR IR1(SharpIR::GP2Y0A02YK0F, A0); //distance range 20-150cm
int distance1;
void setup() {
Serial.begin(9600);
}
void loop() {
distance1 = IR1.getDistance();
Serial.println(distance1);
delay(30);
}
Process - Week 8
Movement Detection
- Use IR distance sensor to detect if human stand in front of the screen (failed)
- Two IR sensor detective arm movement: one at the bottom of the screen, one at the middle of the screen.
- Use the camera with poseNet (thanks for Tom's suggestion)
