Idea
We made a small interactive theater that includes a rotating palm tree, a bird catch a fish occasionally, and a blinking orange light.
Mechanics
- Use a right-angle gear motor with motor driver and rope to make a scrolling structure that moves the bird up and down.
- Servo motor powers the palm tree rotate from and back 180 degrees.
- Use an IR distance sensor to detect the audience's position: when the audience gets closer to the nonsense theater(approx 30cm), the palm tree will stop rotating.
- When the audience is close to the nonsense theater, the microphone component is active to detect whether the audience is speaking. If the audience is speaking or making sounds over a certain volume, the orange light will switch on, and the bird will fly down and back.

Palm Tree
We used external power and a 7805 regulator to power the servo motor. Then we glued the foam board that supports the palm tree with the motor.

Bird
We used a thicker rope to make the scrolling and fish line connect with the bird, so the audience wouldn't see the back scene.
